Research has proven that the Arts are the ties that bind the community to its residents and enhance economic development. Together we CAN, indeed we WILL become architects for our future!
"The Arts are the springboard to creativity and self-expression. However, the Art world encompasses much more than singers, painters, and dancers. It also includes architects, educators, and even the medical field. Every aspect of our lives is touched by the Art world. Imagine if you will that all houses are the same shape, all furniture is the same design, and all automobiles are the same. Life would be very dull and mundane. Every day, every year, and every century would be the same. We would not have progressed any further than the caveman had it not been for Art, because every building begins with a creative plan; every piece of furniture begins with a creative thought; and every automobile begins with a creative design. The Arts have encouraged problem solvers and thinkers among young children who have been exposed to Art. The medical field uses art in therapeutic situations for traumatized patients. All this would not have been possible without someone, somewhere fostering the notion of creativity. The Arts have taken humans in a direction that makes us, our community, our world, and our society what we are today."
"The Arts are vital in demonstrating the core values of the community and creating an environment that is attractive to new growth and business. Tomball's dedication to The Arts will always be a positive influence in attracting positive growth that has been a trademark of our community."
"Not every child’s interest revolves around sports. Having an organization such as The Regional Arts Council in our community is a valuable resource for those young people with interests in the Visual and Performing Arts."
"An appreciation of the arts can help a community to have a better understanding of the world we live in and can encourage individuals to more fully utilize their life and talents for the betterment of their fellow man and for God’s glory."
"Art is essential in fostering a creative outlet that echoes personal expression and pride in community. Creative leaders from business, government, and the arts community are vital agents in bridging the gap between a wide range of public and private sector interests. I believe the arts can only flourish when the power of the creative process becomes a vital and accepted part of all aspects of community life. In short, art enriches our lives and enhances our community!"
I am a published poet who found solace in giving expression to circumstances of life. Through this process, the arts helped develop self-confidence, self-discipline, persistence, and the experience of how to make multiple revisions to create high quality work in any aspect of life (poetry, music, dance or theater). Through the arts, we learn to listen and engage any subject matter in an infusion and exchange of ideas. Even in daily conversation, we all sense a natural rhythm that develops as we listen for a cadence in people as they speak between breaths and search their minds to make a point. The arts give us a unique forum for such an expression of imagination that helps in understanding the various cultural and historical contexts in which creative ideas are explored; therefore, problem-solving and critical thinking skills are developed. We are all born into a cultural, political and historical context of place and time. Through the arts, we form a bridge to view, understand and be more tolerant and open the various perspectives of the various points of view to any given issue. We then become respectful of individuals and we recognize differences, similarities, and the uniqueness of others, which becomes a life-long resource to anticipate, develop strategies for, and respond to the ever changing needs of self and society. The collaborative nature of the arts has brought us some of the most imaginative thinkers who solve challenging problems through the arts.
"Since the beginning of time, art has been an expression of man’s desire to communicate his inner feelings, his uniqueness, and/or his dreams of better things. Songs have been sung, poems recited, art admired, and dance has released the soul. For some, these talents are as natural as the seasons; for others it is a desire needing encouragement – a teacher. Though TRAC is not the teacher, it is an organization that seeks to bring to the community an appreciation of art, encouragement and support through scholarships, and an understanding for many who without TRAC might never have known or appreciated the beauty of the arts. Since its inception TRAC has upheld its mission to the best of its financial and physical abilities. Many have benefited from scholarships, TRAC offerings, and from a heightened awareness made possible by TRAC’s presence in this area community."
"A Visual and Performing Arts organization creates a well-balanced, wholesome environment in any community and enhances the quality of life for the people who call that community home. The greater Tomball area has been fortunate to have The Regional Arts Council actively fashioning programs for over 20 years, programs that educate and inspire both children and adults, developing an individual's love and appreciation for the Arts."
